Complete script cover

Script bound and embossed.

Website design

The current UTC website has been made on wix and it shows, although there is not the time or funding for a fully live website at this time I have designed the site and the functionallity of it and mocked up how it could look and work. I have included key pages and content. Again similarly to the script i have followed the theme of R & J as a place holder play. this is due to the sma e previouly stated reasons and indeed continuity.

Final designs for imagery

 –
The previous image shown to the guys at UTC came back with a responce I was not expecting they wanted to scrap the idea entirely and change it, This was a bit of an irritand as we, myself and the illustrator, had already spent a great deal of time on the previous version they came back to us with a new idea and James (the illustrator) got straight on creating a new image, the following post illustrates how a client can and will butcher a project because they wont listen and adapt ideas to something more suitable. This is what they want and for me this does not reflect the play, the company, James or indeed myself. it is a poorly thought out idea that has been put together under a great deal of pressure. Its not work im proud of but it is work that has given me an invaluable lesson about how to work and deal with clients. The image is a very small part of this project and is the more 'live' part of it. The branding and feel of the branding is more important for myself and the project.

Embossed Script Cover

For the covers I wanted to use the same effect on as the buisness cards inking up the etching plate. It really make an amazing effect which was a complete experiment. the inked up plate mekes such a clean line defining the logo it really abideds by the ideals i was trying to live by for this branding.

Script (Romeo + Juliet)

When working on the range of printed collateral for the UTC I thought about what sort of matterials they might need want and use. One of these things was bispoke script covers, these could be limited edition or indeed rolled out for every cast member but its just something that would tie all aspects of the collateral and brand. For the purposes of this mock I have used Romeo and Juliet as the script as it is easliy accessable and indeed a play!

Embossing Letter Head

Similarly with the business cards I wanted an embossed part of the letter head this is to tie the all of the printed collateral together. Obviousley inking up the plate on this occation would be counter enchuative as it would make the text illegable! I therefore decided to blind emboss this document.

Embossing business cards

Making the buisness cards I started by making an etching plate as previously mentioned, I experimented with a blind deboss and although it gave a good effect it is subtle and is not as eye catching as I think the UTC want there company to be. Although when discussing the project with the client words like bold, eye catching and proffessional get thrown arround I'm not entirely certain they understand how they want to atchive these things in terms of a 'brand' therefore I find my self sometimes playing a guessing game. The thought process behind the buisness cards was therefore this, a tactile well crafted card that was not only eye catching but sleak and sophisticated. I hope in my attempts to produce this the matterials and methods I have used show this. The business cards went from a blind embossed grey stock to a deep red inked card with the logo clear from ink and raised from the surface.
